Hi You Amazing Backers,

We are coming down to the end of the Kickstarter. Tomorrow is the day! Yay!

That said, Terry interviewed me yesterday on Facebook Live and you can watch it if you like. HERE is the direct link for you! He took many of your questions and posed them to me. He asked some of his own and put me on the hot seat. Was a fun time and I think you'll enjoy watching it.

Here is the direct link: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=3360536797348469

I will be preparing the BackerKit for you guys too. That won't be easy but like all of this, it's all new and fun. Excited to see what add-ons you guys like/want!

Hope you are well!

The Undone Life of Jak Dreadth Cover Reveal & Estimated Shipping Costs
over 3 years ago – Sat, Sep 26, 2020 at 04:05:10 PM

Hi Antiquity Grey Backers,

A short note today. There are only 7 days left in the Kickstarter and I want you to have the most current information for you to make the best pledge choices.

First, I've estimated the shipping. I used other Grim Oak titles that are similar in materials and size. I ship via USPS. The prices in the US are media mail prices. It is not cheap to ship internationally though as those of you who follow Grim Oak Press know. Here is an image illustrated those estimates:

And in other news, artist Allen Morris turned in his wrap-around cover art for The Undone Life of Jak Dreadth. I absolutely love it. I've shared the entire wrap-around cover on my Facebook page HERE. Take a lookie. I have also posted the cover on the Kickstarter and I'll feature it below.

I also managed to finish copyedits on The Tempered Steel of Antiquity Grey yesterday. One more step done! 7 days left! Then we will know what we are dealing with! Ha!

THANK YOU AGAIN for all of your support. It means a lot!

Have Terry Brooks Ask YOUR Question To Shawn! Plus a Hardcover Deal!
over 3 years ago – Wed, Sep 23, 2020 at 12:07:47 PM

Hi Most Excellent Backers,

It has been a fun month! I'm finally getting caught up with work. I received final copyedits for The Tempered Steel of Antiquity Grey, got the Glossary mostly done, and am about to continue writing Jak Dreadth's novella. All super fun.

But what now? It is time to take advantage of that $100,000 Stretch Goal. Since you backed this project, you can ask me a question. It can be anything. Terry will receive the questions as I forward them to him, go through them, and pick his favorites for a Q&A we will do on his Facebook page. The Facebook Live will be Monday, September 28th at 1PM PT. Should be great fun. And I'm scared what questions will come in! Ha!

Send your questions to [email protected] with subject "Terry Brooks Q&A."

I have some other news too. Former Del Rey Books editor-in-chief Betsy Mitchell is giving my debut novel, The Dark Thorn, an edit. It was never professionally edited and that has always bothered me. Since I'm closing in on finishing The Everwinter Wraith and I'll likely Kickstart that sequel to The Dark Thorn, I thought I'd let you all know that the original hardcover edition of the book is available for $10 right now on Grim Oak Press. Here is the link:

https://grimoakpress.com/products/the-dark-thorn-by-shawn-speakman-1?variant=5191662567461

When copies of unedited The Dark Thorn are gone, they are gone. Then I'll produce a new edited version of the book for the Kickstarter. If you are looking for an urban fantasy that has been reviewed as Butcher's Dresden Files meets Brooks's Word/Void trilogy, then you might want to take advantage of the $10 hardcover! Or not. Up to you!

Okay. Back to edits!

We Hit $110,000! A Surprise For $120,000
over 3 years ago – Sun, Sep 20, 2020 at 09:29:37 AM

Hi My Most Excellent Backers,

I am excited to say that you've done it again! I've been really busy these last few days but here is an update: the Kickstarter hit $110,000! That means Kaitlund Zupanic is hard at work on the first art stretch goal. She has already sent me nine thumbnails, I've chosen one, and now she's painting.

That means Allen Morris's art stretch goal is next. To activate Allen into service, we have to hit $120,000. As most Kickstarters do, it has slowed down here in the middle days. But I am confident we can hit Allen's art stretch goal by the Kickstarter's end. If you can, share the link with your SF&F reading friends and family, and within any groups you take part in. Might help!

If we hit the $120,000, I may ask Allen to do more than one interior. Because I like interior art. Don't you?

Best to you all. Hope you are staying safe and sane during these strange times!

Allen Morris & Kaitlund Zupanic Begin Art Duties
over 3 years ago – Sat, Sep 12, 2020 at 09:26:08 AM

Hi All,

Two quick updates. First, we are closing in on $110,000. That means Kaitlund Zupanic will do a first piece of interior art. She's read the first two chapters and is excited to start work tonight. We will hit it. I know we will. So she'd best start now.

Second, Allen Morris has begun real work on the cover for The Undone Life of Jak Dreadth. It's beautiful what he's done so far. It's below. Hope you enjoy the direction we are going! Also, I am considering hiring Allen to do a few more interiors for Antiquity Grey if we hit $120,000. So we can have an illustrated book even if we don't hit those higher Stretch Goals. Does that sound good? Whatcha think?

Hope you all are well! I'm wrapping up a short story right now and then I turn my attention to Jak's novella again! Yay!
